Flower arrangement question?

How do you arrange flowers after you buy a bouquet from the grocery store? I have no idea on how to arrange flowers. I would just stick them in a vase and add water but they look tacky cause they%26#039;re not arranged. Isn%26#039;t there an easy technique for flower arranging? Any good websites?

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersPersonally, my favorite flower is alstroemeria. I buy enough so that the stems are tight in the vase, strip off leaves that are below the edge of the vase and put them in the water. Flower arranging is done.

some of the higher end grocery stores (ie Gelson%26#039;s) will hold free floral arranging demos once a month.

right now, hand tied bouquets are very in. you hold ea. stem in your hand as you add the next one in- filling empty spots and spreading color- etc. then you tie it and drop it in a vase. if it doesn%26#039;t look right, try trimming the stems until it fits the mouth of the vase properly.

good luck!

Reply:It just depends on where you live. You might check with community colleges in the area. Ours offers those classes for fun sometimes in the summer. Also, you might check in the newspaper once in awhile or even ask flowershops.
Reply:Some Greenhouses and Floral shops will offer training, also ITT will offer classes thru floral shops.

Natural ability is half the battle, working with live flowers is totally different that silks, plus they will teach you to arrange on a numerical pattern, which I don%26#039;t like...

How to create outdoor flower baskets from silk flowers?

HI

I would like to create a few flower arrangements from silk flowers for use outside on deck and porch to compliment the real flowers. I have been pretty successful when displaying in vases (although I have to regularly dump out rainwater) but I%26#039;d like to create arrangements like flower baskets and plant pots. I%26#039;m not sure what to use to anchor the flowers in that will not be ruined or rotted by rainwater but also won%26#039;t be too heavy to lift. I know that indoor arrangements have some sort of foam or similar material but I wasn%26#039;t sure if this would work outside.

Any suggestions???

Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersI use pretty pots and use what ever size styrofoam I need from the art and crafts department. Then I put some mulch on top. Then I create my flower arrangement. The styrofoam last a very long time and does not rot. Never have any problems doing it this way. Hope I helped you some.
Reply:Have you ever tried the spray foam that they use around electric outlets? This stuff works pretty good you should try it if you haven%26#039;t already. If your using a flower pot only that way if it swells too much you can trim it off. Report It

Do any of you know if there is a funeral flower arrangement book in the market?

I need to buy books that has a great deal of photos for funeral flowers arrangement. I also need to get books on room decorating tips for funeral parlor.
Do any of you know if there is a funeral flower arrangement book in the market?
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersContact an established local florist in your area. The florist would have several books on funeral flowers and could either sell you some of their books or give you a good source of where to secure one. Also, look for the nearest Floral Syndicate store, or a First Distributor - these are wholesalers for florists - they have books on sympathy flowers by John Henry. The books show the flowers in the funeral home setting, so you could get ideas on decorating your funeral home.
Reply:There are some funeral flower arrangement catalogs online at any maj`/,tlower shop.

I%26#039;m not sure about the funeral parlor decorating.
Reply:the best books out there with funeral flowers are the wire service books. go on ebay and look for teleflora or ftd books that florists may be selling. if you are decorating the funeral home, is it for business purposes so clients will order from you or is it for the purpose of general decorating? i am curious, if you are doing this as a business, why dont you already have the books or pics of past work you have done. clients do not want to see a picture book they want to see pics of what you have done.

for decorating the funeral home, subtle arrangements in the color scheme that will coordinate with funeral homes style . there is no special decorating involvedmake up

Flower opinions needed!! In my wedding, I want to use red Gerber daisies in my bridesmaids arrangements?

But.... I need some ideas for the boutonnieres for the guys. If they use gerbers daisies - I think they will look like clowns. You know, the ones that squirt water. I am not a fan of roses - but am open to any other flower. Thanks for your opinion! :)

Reply:Are you opposed to carnations? They%26#039;re inexpensive and very pretty IMO. The poppy is a good, clean, simple red flower guys can appreciate, too.
Reply:I agree about the clown thing, I got a chuckle out of that one. I agree that a Carnation is nice. I really depends on what flowers are in season. Here are a few suggestions:

Chrysanthemum, Hydrangea, or Orchids. There are also mixed follage boutonnieres that don%26#039;t have any flowers but still look nice. Good Luck %26amp; Congrats
Reply:I like a few little roses, not one big one -

Carns are nice and last long. Our guys wore four small ones -

The following pic is a corsage, but the asters look similar to gerberas, but are smaller and you could probably get them in the right shade of red -

Reply:Get the guys some nice carnations.
Reply:Gerber daisies are beautiful - great choice. For the boutonnieres you could do mini Gerber daisies, or if you do not want to do that you could try: a dark red calla lily (beautiful flowers) red carnation or an orchid.

Good luck and congrats!

here is a site with some boutonniere photos to check out:

Reply:I understand what you are saying about clowns, it made me laugh! If you use gerbra daisies for your bridesmaids, considering miniature gerbra daisies for the groomsmen. This way, they still match, but do not look like clowns! I think it would look classy. Maybe a tiny bunch of three.

sidenote: nothing against other people%26#039;s oppinion, but carnations are a bit overdone.make up
